Welcome both Canterbury Residents and those that wish to become Canterbury Residents
Value - We are excited to bring joy to the property and the region. Children playing on the property gives it some of the highest value that it could have. The sound of children playing is a great expression of peace and happiness and we’re happy to bring that value to our neighborhood. We know that getting kids or anyone off a screen, and actually intersected with the outdoors is a step in investing in the present and future and, in a way, bringing intentional positivity to the neighborhood, the town and to the Front Range region.
Canterbury Benefits at the Pumpkin Patch - Speaking of value, we’d like to invite you to our event: The Colorado Pumpkin Patch. If you are a Canterbury Resident you and your family or you and your friends can get entry into the pumpkin patch for free with the presentation of your license showing your residence on the streets of Canterbury.
Other value - visibility - Colorado is a beautiful state and our area is a favorite. Home values have continued to improve as the area has had more visibility compared to the rest of the Monument area. Here is a pic of the 2024 sales map with all homes sold in the area around us with the green dot.
History - This area was inhabited by a mixture of native nations years ago. When the citizens of the United States arrived in the late 1800s the Brown family settled this and the surrounding property. It was situated at the edge of Gwillimville where the Searle Ranch now resides. The Brown children can be seen on an old photo in front of the school house. The Browns later sold and the properties were used to create Canterbury West first, then Canterbury East. Supposedly this area used to be used to make cheese, farm potatoes and was a stop through on the way down to Colorado Springs. Several watering holes still exist on the property and old maps show the source of Cherry Creek just south of this property near the divide. We do find old artifacts from time to time.
Future Activities - We have understood that there once was a neighborhood barn dance. That sounds fun. We organized a local parade during Covid where we had vehicles all the way to lawn mowers. We hope to do some activities in the future with the neighborhood. One such activity might be a movie night on the side of our arena in the summer. Stay tuned.
